June Newsletter

The June 2025 BN Bulletin highlights a vibrant month for Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank, showcasing community engagement and charitable initiatives. The fundraiser gig in May, featuring free entertainment from The Crows and DJ Moo, raised £4,000 to combat hygiene poverty. Meanwhile, Team Tuesday was busy distributing 165 Father’s Day gifts to children via six charities and schools, most crafted by their Sewing Bees. Prom Packs were also a major focus, with 200 kits containing hygiene essentials delivered to schools and youth centres, thanks to support from ambassador Tiffany at Amelia Knight.

Calling all runners

Our team is once again sponsored by Redrow and we are recruiting runners for either the Asics 10km or the Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon. In exchange for a place on team BN we just ask that you will commit to raising £200 sponsorship, or hopefully a lot more.

36 Runners took almost half a million steps in the Wilmslow Running Festival to run hygiene poverty into the ground.

3 tackled the half marathon and 23 knocked off the 10k raising an awesome amount of money. The sponsorship will help to keep this vital toiletry charity “running” for another 4 months.

With an early roll call for a photo and warm up the runners gathered together. Some game volunteers had agreed to wear “toothbrush or toothpaste fancy dress”, and all runners proudly sported their Bare Necessities T-Shirt.

Trustee Ben Lambert, gamely dressed up as a toothbrush to run the half marathon, said “ We’re a fantastic charity and I’m happy to have had two hours of pain, all in a great cause. It wasn’t easy with a toothbrush on your head but totally worth it.”

Wilmslow’s Way Better, Lisa Russet commented, “  I had a great time running in the Wilmslow Running festival. Not only was the event really well organised so was the Bare Necessities Race Team. The passion in everything they do really shows from the race shirts, pre-race meet and after race event at Suburban Green. I’m thrilled to have passed my sponsorship goal as I know it will make a difference for such a worthy cause.”

Thank you Redrow Homes North West for backing us and to Suburban Green for our post run reception.

All money raised will allow the Wilmslow based charity to buy toiletries to add to those donated. A selection of toiletry and hygiene products are packed into age and gender specific bags and delivered monthly to 35 charities in the Cheshire East and Manchester area. Charities include women’s, youth & schools, mother & baby, foodbanks and street homeless. You can still donate money to Bare Necessities Toiletry bank please log on towww.justgiving.com/campaign/bnwilmslowrunningfestival
