June Newsletter

The June 2025 BN Bulletin highlights a vibrant month for Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank, showcasing community engagement and charitable initiatives. The fundraiser gig in May, featuring free entertainment from The Crows and DJ Moo, raised £4,000 to combat hygiene poverty. Meanwhile, Team Tuesday was busy distributing 165 Father’s Day gifts to children via six charities and schools, most crafted by their Sewing Bees. Prom Packs were also a major focus, with 200 kits containing hygiene essentials delivered to schools and youth centres, thanks to support from ambassador Tiffany at Amelia Knight.

On Friday 10th April, we launched our first Give a Smile campaign of 2026 with the support of our fantastic friends at Redrow.

Redrow is one of the UK’s leading house builders, with developments across the country. Over the years, the team has supported Bare Necessities in many ways – from donating during our coffee mornings and supporting previous Give a Smile campaigns, to hosting donation boxes in their sales office and sponsoring our Christmas Lunch fundraiser.

Five Redrow colleagues joined us on the day to help pack 1,000 dental hygiene packs – 500 individual packs and 500 family packs – providing a three-month supply of quality dental products to people experiencing hygiene poverty.

These award-winning packs were distributed to local charities, including, Stockport Women’s Centre, Salford Baby Bank, and Silk Life Food Bank, all of whom highlighted how essential these products are for the people they support.

Wendy, a volunteer at Salford Baby Bank, said:

“These will form part of our emergency packs that we deliver to the poorest families in Salford, alongside other toiletries, and they give a significant profile in terms of the importance of dental hygiene and dental health. For many of our families, it is difficult to access because of poverty and the huge cost attached to dental products.”

Without the support of the Redrow team, we would not have been able to prepare and distribute such a large number of packs, helping ensure that more individuals and families can access essential dental hygiene products. These products are off limits, especially during the cost of living crisis, forcing people to only brush with water or share toothbrushes.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Redrow team for volunteering their time and energy to help make this campaign possible. Partnerships like this play a vital role in helping us reach more people across our communities.

Help us end hygiene poverty for good.
