June Newsletter
The June 2025 BN Bulletin highlights a vibrant month for Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank, showcasing community engagement and charitable initiatives. The fundraiser gig in May, featuring free entertainment from The Crows and DJ Moo, raised £4,000 to combat hygiene poverty. Meanwhile, Team Tuesday was busy distributing 165 Father’s Day gifts to children via six charities and schools, most crafted by their Sewing Bees. Prom Packs were also a major focus, with 200 kits containing hygiene essentials delivered to schools and youth centres, thanks to support from ambassador Tiffany at Amelia Knight.

A TOILETRY bank charity has teed up more than £17,000 in funding from its annual golf day.
Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank hosted the event at Wilmslow Golf Club with help from main sponsors Anwyl Homes and golf pro Oliver Pantoja.
The sell-out event saw teams compete in a Texas scramble format, followed by dinner and an auction.
Play was interrupted by torrential rain, plus thunder and lightning, but it didn’t seem to dampen the golfers’ enthusiasm.
The winners were Merry Golfers, with Morson team in second place, Partee Panthers in third and Par Tee Time in fourth.
Chair of Bare Necessities Wendy Hobson said: “The golf day has typically been the backbone of our fundraising, and this year was no exception. Thanks to sponsors Anwyl Homes and Bentley Manchester, our pro Oli Pantoja, the BN Volunteers, Wilmslow Golf Club and photographer Geoff Garnett for making the event such as success.
“The funding landscape is fiercely contested, now more than ever and at the same time, demand for our services is escalating. Awareness around hygiene poverty has increased and events, like the golf day help spread the word. We’ve raised well over £17,000, including almost £12,000 on the auction. This will help us provide sustainable support to the 32 charities we work with and fund some one-off pallet deliveries.”
Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank is based in Wilmslow, with most of its work in Stockport, Macclesfield, Cheshire East and central Manchester.
It provides a range of essential items that some people consider luxuries from “give a smile” packs of dental supplies to bags of items for body-conscious teens to crisis kits of easy to carry minis for the homeless.
It’s estimated that the charity receives just 20% of what it needs through its network of donation boxes. The rest they must buy, at a cost of around £5,000 a month.
John Grime, managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “We’re proud to have sponsored all five of the golf days organised by Bare Necessities. Together we’ve raised a total of more than £80,000, helping make a real difference to those tackling hygiene poverty.”
Next year’s golf day is due to take place on Thursday, September 2026 at Wilmslow Golf Club.
“We’re asking for early expressions of interest in the 2026 golf day. Continued anxiety around funding underpins our activities and we are keen to hear from anyone who can support us,” Wendy added.
